Member Spotlight – Anit Thankappan Pillai At Amlak we attribute our success to our clients. In this issue, we feature Mr. Anit Thankappan Pillai, a Dubai resident for the past four years. He is single, employed as a Drilling Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry and is an avid golf enthusiast. His experience with Amlak is detailed below:
Reasons for buying a house in Dubai The obvious place for buying a house was in Dubai, where I worked and since I am in the Oil and Gas industry, this place provides the best prospects in the long-term. Another factor that influenced my decision to invest in real-estate was the rapid growth of Dubai which is a regional hub. As my parents have been living and running a business in Dubai for over 20 years, it was also beneficial to convert the rent paid out in to an equity in property. The first house I purchased was at the Greens in 2002. My second investment was acquiring a hotel apartment. Choosing Amlak for home finance At the time of purchasing, Amlak was the only home finance provider available. Additionally, the overall features of the finance fitted in well with my requirements. Experience with Amlak My experience with Amlak has been very good. I was impressed with the customer service provided by Samar Khalifa, a customer service agent who was extremely helpful. Her "can–do" attitude combined with her innate knowledge of the real–estate market and home financing was invaluable. Through her assistance I was able to sort out my documentation easily, making the entire process much smoother. As I travel frequently for work, Samar was very helpful in updating the status of my application and handled all the documentation effectively. Future plans with Amlak I have been approached for refinance but will not be considering it right now. I will use the products and services of Amlak in the future, more so if they enter the Indian market. However, at present I am not looking for an investment outside Dubai. Expectations from Amlak I hope Amlak continues to come out with innovative products and maintain the excellent service. I have lately seen more products like refinancing, financing yachts etc. and hope to see more. Recommending Amlak’s products and services I haven‘t done so as yet, but I would recommend Amlak to my friends and colleagues because I am impressed with their customer service. Tips for buying property in Dubai • Make sure you have a clear objective when buying, whether for investment or to live in • Diversify your investments • Choose the developer carefully. I recommend someone with a good reputation like Emaar. I had a bad   experience with another developer, when my family and I bought a villa but the contract paperwork took a year   to come through. I also had trouble getting back the deposit. However with Emaar, the paperwork came   through within two months, and that I believe is evidence of their exceptional service.
